Michelle Fountain Coolidge
Her Journey, Her Life… Her Story
Michelle, a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who was born
to the late Rance and Rozetta Vanstory Fountain on December 8, 1959, in Youngstown,
Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister Stella; four brothers Frederick, Carl,
Michael (her twin brother whom she shared her mother’s womb), and Rance.
She was affectionately known as “Shelly” by her family and close friends, and “Grandma
Shell” by her beautiful grandchildren whom she adored.
Michelle attended grade school, secondary and high school in Youngtown, Ohio. On July
2, 1994, she was inspired to move to Kansas City, Kansas to be close to her sister. Despite
health challenges, she continued her education and received her high school diploma and
her CNA Certification along with additional college credits.
She was a dedicated mother to her three sons’ Dale, Justin, and Troy, and there wasn’t
anything she would not do for them. She always went above and beyond to make sure
they had everything they needed and made sure they felt loved. Mom would always say, “I
don’t care how old you get; you are still my babies”.
Michelle confessed a hope in Christ and was baptized at an early age at Nevels Temple
Church of God in Christ in Youngstown, Ohio, under the leadership of Bishop Emmitt
Nevels Sr. Upon relocating to Kansas, she united with Greystone Heights Missionary
Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Ephthallia Banks where she served in the
choir and with the Women’s Mission Circle. She later united with the Evangelistic
Center Church under the leadership of Bishop Jack C. Vaughn where she remained a
member until her passing.
She was a hard-working woman, working to provide for her children. She held several
positions at Infocison Management, Kravitz’s Deli, and Tile Supply all in Youngstown,
Ohio. When moving to Kansas City, she worked at Kansas University Medical Center, IGA
Super Center as a cashier, served as a caretaker for many who were sick, and worked in
various fast-food chains. She worked to provide for her children and did not want them to
lack anything, and they didn’t.
One of her greatest joys was witnessing her three sons graduate from the University of
Phoenix all on the same day.
Michelle was a phenomenal home maker. Her love was expressed in her cooking and
could not be compared. She provided delicious meals for her family. friends and anyone in
need. She enjoyed family time together, cruising, traveling, shopping, and was quite
thrifty. Holidays were always special for her. She enjoyed giving gifts and receiving them
and she shared her love abroad. Her “LOVE” for people allowed her to open her doors
freely and became “MOM” to all who encountered her. Her creative gift was
extraordinary, and she shared many arts and crafts with her children and grandchildren.
She had the ability to take the simplest things and make something beautiful.
On September 24, 2022, she united in Holy Matrimony to her friend and lover Mr. Glen
Coolidge. They enjoyed many special moments together, traveling out of town, going out
for special dinners, and enjoying their families and children for special holidays and
events. You would often find them watching WWE wrestling matches on any given day of
the week, but Sundays were for church and football. She enjoyed hearing her Pastor
preach the word of God and she was a personal cheerleader to the Kansas City Chiefs.
She cheered for them louder than the people in the stands, so it seemed. Although their
time together seemed short. Love for a lifetime was established, and they remained faithful
to each other until her death.
Michelle Fountain Coolidge departed this life on June 12, 2025, at 10:52 A.M. at St.
Luke’s Hospice Home surrounded by her loving husband, sons, and sister. She leaves to
cherish her memory, a devoted Husband, Glen Coolidge; three sons Dale (Marica), Justin
(Jahaan), and Troy (Ashley) Fountain; son in love, Dominique (Jessica); ten
Grandchildren, Justin Jr, Ma’rrell, Journee, Lyric, Harlem, Dash, Dexx, Reign, Ja’Lea,
and Diallo; one Sister Patricia (Gregory) Clardy; one brother, David (Lynn) Fountain;
