Michael Schuler
Michael John Schuler, age 79, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
Mike was born on October 11, 1945, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, to Gordon E. Schuler and Helene (Stannard) Schuler. He married Linda Mitwede 53 years ago, on October 2, 1971, and together they raised three children, of whom he was immensely proud.
Mike grew up in Plymouth, where Carl Loebe Field was practically his backyard—and where he spent countless hours playing catch with his older brother, Dick. A 1963 graduate of Plymouth High School, Mike excelled in athletics, playing football, running track relays, and setting records in discus. He went on to attend Lakeland College, where he continued his love for sports, playing both football and baseball. Mike later returned to Lakeland as an assistant football coach and remained close with many of his former defensive players throughout his life.
Mike began his career at the David Douglas Company, where he found his passion for business and problem-solving. He loved a good challenge—whether it was launching a new venture or racing to get an order out on time. A true entrepreneur, Mike founded several local businesses, including Tapmarker Specialists, Mike’s Pizza, and Sport Plaques. He especially enjoyed the plaque business, which combined his artistic eye with his innovative spirit. The work also connected him with coaches across the country and provided the opportunity to travel with his family, particularly to NCAA Final Four tournaments.
Outside of work, Mike enjoyed sponsoring and playing on softball teams, bowling, snowmobiling, waterskiing, and fishing. He was a firm believer and supporter of the Sheboygan YMCA. In retirement, he found deep meaning in working at RCS Empowers in Sheboygan, where he served lunch and built lasting relationships with individuals with disabilities and special needs.
In his free time, Mike discovered a love for woodcarving and woodburning, often selling his handcrafted pieces at area craft shows, especially in West Bend. He took great pride in the home he and Linda built together and found joy in maintaining their property, splitting wood, and feeding the fish in his pond. He loved cooking for his family and sharing stories—especially with his grandsons, who never tired of hearing tales from his college days, business travels, and life experiences.
Mike is survived by his wife, Linda, his daughters Cynthia Schuler of Howards Grove, Christi (Kevin) Williams of Nashville, his son Timothy (Rachel) Schuler of New Orleans. His four grandsons; Jacob, Jonathan, Taylor and Nathan Doebert. Sister-in-law Lynnette (Steve) Marek, Brothers-in-law Steven (Janet) and David Mitwede, and John Zimmerman. He is further survived by nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Richard Schuler, sister-in-law Bonnie Zimmerman, and brother-in-law Michael Mitwede.

A Celebration of Mike’s Life will be held on Friday, June 13th, 2025 at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM.
