Michael David Carpenter, affectionately known as Mike, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2025, in Morgan Hill, California, at the age of 69.
Born in San Francisco, California, Mike lived a life filled with laughter, kindness, and unwavering love for his family. He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend of 41 years, Karen Carpenter; his beloved daughters, Brooke Zoobi and Lainie Carpenter, whom he loved more than anything; his son-in-law, Abed Zoobi, who became like a son to him; and his cherished grandson and light of his life, Harper Zoobi. He is also survived by his sisters, Gabrielle Walker and Circe Bisby, and his brother, Vance Cooke, all whom he loved so much.
Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Ellen Heatlie, and his beloved in-laws, Daniel and Kathryn Naughton, who were like parents to him.
Mike found joy in life’s simple pleasures — spending time with family, traveling, enjoying weekend outings, and gathering around the table for family dinners. He especially loved camping at Shaver Lake and spending time on the water boating, jet skiing, and fishing with Karen and the kids. A loyal fan of the San Francisco 49ers and Giants, Mike cheered on his teams with enthusiasm and heart.
Those who knew Mike will remember his easygoing nature, his genuine kindness, and his remarkable sense of humor. He had a special way of making everyone around him smile and laugh — his warmth and wit will be deeply missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Lima Compagna – Johnson Funeral Home, 17720 Monterey Street, Morgan Hill, CA 95037.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the HealthWell Foundation, which helps cancer patients with medical expenses, or that a tree be planted in Mike’s memory.
Mike’s spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him — his legacy of humor, love, and laughter will never be forgotten.
