Michael Bartolo, a cherished son, brother, uncle, and decorated veteran, passed away on August 17, 2025, at the age of 38, in Holmdel, NJ. Michael was born on January 23, 1987 in Staten Island, NY to proud parents Deborah and Anthony Bartolo Sr. Throughout his life, Michael’s unwavering spirit and resilient character touched the hearts of all those around him.
Michael’s dedication to his country was evident early in life when he joined the ROTC in high school. His commitment to serving others continued as he enlisted in the Army National Guard. He was a decorated service member, receiving numerous medals for his valiant efforts and a Purple Heart for injuries sustained in combat in Afghanistan. Michael will forever be remembered as a true patriot and a proud veteran who served his nation with distinction and bravery.
Upon his honorable discharge from the military, Michael returned to his family and community, where he became an inspiring figure to all who knew him. His passion for life was evident in his love for mixed martial arts and boxing, a discipline through which he exuded both the strength and grace that defined him throughout his life. Michael’s love for fitness and health was contagious, and he often inspired others to pursue their fitness goals with the same fervor he did.
A man with a tough exterior, Michael carried within him a heart of gold. The loyalty and love he showed to his family were unparalleled. He is survived by his parents Deborah and Anthony Bartolo Sr.; his brother Anthony Bartolo Jr. and his sister-in-law Nicole; and his adored nephew and niece, Anthony Bartolo III and Gabrielle Bartolo, who will miss him dearly.
Michael will also be remembered as an avid New York Jets fan, his loyalty to his team mirroring the steadfast dedication he showed to all aspects of his life. The enthusiasm and joy he brought to game days will be sorely missed by his friends and family.
Michael’s presence on this earth was a blessing to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of courage, loyalty, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
A memorial service will be held for Michael on Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm with a funeral service beginning at 3:30pm at Waitt Funeral Home, 501 HWY 79, Morganville, NJ 07751.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to Wounded Warrior Project or Tunnel to Towers foundation in loving memory of Michael.
