Mayor’s Attendance Hall of Fame awards gives bikes to students with perfect attendance

More than 200 Carson City students and parents gathered with school officials, trustees and community sponsors at the Casino Fandango Thursday evening to celebrate Mayor Lori Bagwell’s “Attendance Hall of Fame” awards night.

The campaign to promote perfect, improved or consistent attendance in school was designed to help students and families understand the importance of attending school and ultimately incentivize children to arrive on time and remain at school.

Partnering with more than 30 local businesses including Greater Nevada Credit Union (GNCU), Carson City Toyota and Glen Eagles Restaurant, Mayor Bagwell and these community partners delivered more than 50 new bikes to students. Because numerous students met the criteria, the bikes were offered as raffle prizes.
