Mary Alice Wright

November 1945 – November 2025

Surrounded by love and faith and facing her illness with courage, strength, and dignity, Mary Alice Wright of Granbury, Texas, passed peacefully from this side of Heaven and into the arms of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio in November, 1945, she is the cherished daughter of Armin Franklin Stump and Virginia Bell DeRose, sister to her 7 siblings: Michael (Nancy) Stump; John (Sue) Stump; Christine Stump; Janet (Tom) Connor; Roberta (Keith) Knarr; and preceded in death by sisters Virginia Stump and Angela (Mike) White, wife of Frederick Leslie Wright and step-mother to Fred (Nikki) Wright and Lori (Joe) Buckley, and mother to her 5 daughters–Gina Ann (Steven) Kuszmaul; Christina (Daniel) O’Connor; Jacqueline (Robert) Bradshaw; Stephanie (Larry) Haskins; and Mary Elizabeth (Christopher) Duelley.

Mary lived a life full of beauty, joy, and generosity. Known affectionately as “Mom to all” she had a gift for nurturing others — whether through her motherly warmth, her skillful hosting, or her tireless devotion to those around her. She found joy in the simple, meaningful acts: cooking, cleaning, gardening, singing, and dancing — always with grace and love.

Her heart belonged to Jesus, her beloved husband Fred, her siblings, her girls and their families, and a circle of friends who felt her love deeply. She embodied kindness, hospitality, and joy, sharing her faith through her presence and laughter freely with everyone she met. Her greatest and constant pride and joy, however, are her grandchildren: Emily (Jeffrey) Guerrero; Elaine (Michael) Deardoff; Sarah (Jordan) Gullett; Shelby O’Connor (Travis); Samuel O’Connor; Robert Elijah Bradshaw; Gabrielle (Eduardo) Tarango; Abigayle Haskins (John); Larry Haskins, Jr.; Anabella Celestino; Lincoln Celestino; Eric Buckley; Jaret Buckley; Jordyn Buckley; Taylor Wright; Andrew James Wright; Christopher (Lauren) Duelley; Summer (Cole) Poncheri; and great-grandchildren: Leslie Guerrero; Jacob Guerrero; Jonah Guerrero; Makenna Deardoff; Micah Deardoff; Connor Morris; Penelope Tarango; Piper Tarango; Olivia Duelley; and Grayson Poncheri all of whom she is extremely proud. Mom’s light and encouragement will continue to shine in our lives, the songs she sang including “This is the Day that the Lord has Made,” and the love and care she so freely gave.

A memorial service will be held at the Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury on Monday, November 24, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a graveside service where she will be buried next to her beloved Fred at Holly Hills Memorial Park at 12:00 p.m. A continued celebration of life is to follow where family and friends will gather with food, fellowship, and music — lots of music — just as our Mary Alice would have wanted.

While mom loved flowers, her true spiritual gift was sending heartfelt cards for every occasion and without fail. In lieu of flowers, our family kindly requests that you share a favorite memory or a heartfelt message in a card and send it to P.O. Box 134, Granbury, Texas 76048 to create a cherished keepsake for the continued celebration of life event to be held in Arizona. If preferred, and because Mom loved her Country, a donation to any military veteran charity would also please her immensely. We are so thankful for all of the many prayers and support that have surrounded Mom and her family over the past several years.
