Mary Scherer

“Her greatest joy was caring for those she loved.” Mary Lee Scherer, age 64, of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on September 25, 2025.

Mary was born on April 9, 1961, in Tiltonsville, Ohio, to the late William “Bill” Lollini and Dorothy Lollini. Mary grew up in the Ohio Valley and graduated with the St. Clairsville High School Class of 1979. She also received her bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University. She built a career as an insurance underwriter, where her work ethic and attention to detail reflected the same dedication she gave to her family.

On August 16, 1986, she married Joseph “Joe” Martin Scherer, and together they built a beautiful life together.

Mary was strong, driven, and deeply devoted to those she loved. She built her life around caring for her children and grandchildren, always putting their needs above her own. She was the heart of the family, ensuring that holidays and gatherings were filled with love and togetherness.

She found joy in gardening, cooking new recipes, decorating and refinishing furniture, and taking trips with her lifelong friends. She had an artistic touch, a generous spirit, and a deep love for making a warm home. Above all, she cherished her time with her children and grandchildren, who adored her and will remember her for the fun, laughter, and love she brought into their lives.

Mary is survived by her children: Brianna (Tyler) Maldinger of Mansfield, Ohio; Alysa (Dan André) Evensen of Oslo, Norway; and August Scherer of Mansfield, Ohio. She was a proud grandmother to Maverick, Owen, and Olivia Maldinger, all of Mansfield, and Ada Jo Evensen of Oslo. She is also survived by her brothers Randy (Mary) Lollini of Dillonvale, Ohio, and Bill (Sandy) Lollini of Mt. Pleasant, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph M Scherer.

In lieu of services, the family asks that donations be made in Mary’s honor to the National Kidney Foundation.

The Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve the Scherer family.
