Mary Ruth Helton, 89, of Seymour, departed friends and loved ones on October 9, 2025. She was a longtime member of Seymour Community Church. She loved the Lord, her family, her friends, and spending time outdoors. Mary Ruth never met a stranger. She will be missed and remembered by so many for her loving personality and sweet smile.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Edgar Helton; parents, George & Amanda Harrison; brothers, G.B., Robert, and Freddie Harrison; and sister, Margaret Ellis. She is survived by her children, Sandra Flynn (Gene), Patricia Jennings (Huck), and Danny Helton (Donna); grandchildren, Kenny Blackburn (Rebekah), Brian Blackburn (Beth), Jennifer Roberts (Jimmy), Shelley Pennington (Luke), Zjon-Luc Jennings, and Zjon-Paul Jennings (Aaryn); great-grandchildren, Kasey Blackburn, Harlee Blackburn (Bobby), Teague Blackburn, Oden Roberts, Jaxsen Roberts, Lucas Geweke, and Elliott Geweke; siblings, Dan Harrison (Carolyn), Roger Harrison (Thelma), Elizabeth Singleton (Bobby), Kathy Wheeler (Ken), and Faye Norton (Possum); and many other relatives and dear friends.
The family would like to thank everyone for the visits, calls, food, prayers, and emotional support, and a special thanks to the Covenant Hospice nurses. Mary Ruth’s children also wish to extend a heartfelt thanks to their aunts Faye, Kathy, and Elizabeth, for all their support and help during their mother’s illness.
The family will receive friends from 3-5PM Monday, October 13, 2025, in the Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home, Seymour. Family and friends will meet in Shiloh Cemetery (Seymour) for a 10AM graveside service and interment with Pastor Patrick Koster officiating.
