Mary Rita Hammond, age 72, of State Road, passed away on Wednesday October 8, 2025.

Mrs. Hammond was born on December 10, 1952 in Sedgwick County, Kansas to the late Robert Harris and Eileen Frohne Harris.

Mary was a kind and compassionate soul whose life was rooted in her love for the Lord Jesus Christ. Her greatest desire was for others to experience a deep and personal relationship with Him. She dearly loved her family and her cherished fur babies. With a joyful spirit, she embraced life’s simple pleasures she had a great sense of humor and a deep love for music. Mary had a true servant’s heart, always willing to give of herself to help others. Her creativity brought her great happiness, especially through crafting. She found joy in crocheting and cross-stitching, and she loved sharing her handmade creations with those around her. Mary also had a love for travel and adventure. Her passion for exploring the country led her to pursue and earn her CDL license. Professionally, she took pride in her work at IFR, Inc. in Wichita, Kansas, where she worked as an electronics assembler on projects that supported aviation and the military. She found great fulfillment in her career before retiring. Mary’s life was a beautiful example of faith, love, generosity, and joy. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two brothers David Harris and Charles Harris.

Those left to cherish her memory are two sons Brian Hammond and Peter (Crystal) Hammond both of State Road; two daughters Teresa Wood and Joyce (Junior) Andrews both of State Road; two sisters Anna (Randy) Crouch and Celia (Jay) Franz both of Kansas; seven grandchildren Jennifer Andrews, Rachael Andrews, Reeves Andrews, Luke Andrews, Matthew (Niya) Wood, Rachel Hammond, and Olisa Hammond; several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; the loving father of her children James Hammond; and the neighbors two grandchildren Ayla and Mason whom she loved as her own.

A funeral service for Mrs. Hammond will be held on Friday October 10, 2025 at 2pm at Johnson Funeral Home with Pastor Jamie Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1pm-2pm on Friday prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank Mountain Valley Hospice for the wonderful care given to Mrs. Hammond.
