Marian Smith
CHAMPION – Our dear mother, Marian Marie Bishop Smith passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at the age of 92. She was born March 27, 1933 in Warren, the daughter of Gay and Helen Bishop.
Marian was a graduate of Braceville High School. Soon after graduation, she met James O. Smith, the love of her life, on a blind date. They were married when James came home on leave from the Navy, and the couple recently celebrated seventy-three blessed years of marriage.
She was a longtime member of Champion Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deaconess and a member of Ladies Aide.
Marian is survived by her loving husband, James O. Smith; a daughter, Bonnie Wellendorf (Ken) of Brookfield; two sons, James J. Smith (Wendy) and Kevin Smith (Kim Zerefos), both of Champion; a sister, Bertha Wagner of Newton Falls; a brother, Lee Bishop (Shirley) of Southington; her grandchildren: Kenny, Kevin (Julie) and Justin (Autumn) Wellendorf, Sarah Aughenbaugh (Mike), Michael, Brandon, Jeffrey, Alyssa, Jenna, Mackenzie, and Trenton Smith; fourteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her grandson, Ryan Robert Smith; a brother, Ray Bishop; and a sister, Shirley Wheeler.
Calling hours are 10:00 am to 12:00 noon Tuesday at Champion Presbyterian Church, 4997 Mahoning Avenue N.W., Warren, Ohio 44483, where services will begin at 12:00 noon Tuesday. All who knew and loved Marian are welcome to attend and celebrate her magnificent life.
Interment will follow at Champion Township Cemetery.
