Marian Scheid

Marian Anne Scheid, 83, of Winslow, AZ, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, in Chandler, AZ.

Marian was born in Jamaica Queens, NY on September 30, 1941, to Martin and Irene Bligh. She grew up in New Hyde Park, NY where she became an accomplished pianist, a talent she shared with her father and sister. Her love of music was both a personal joy and a gift she shared with others through teaching. She was a band director at McCormick High School in McCormick, SC, and taught piano lessons for over three decades, nurturing the talents of countless students. Life took her to Youngstown, OH, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in history, and then on to Winslow, AZ, where she reconnected with an old friend, William “Bill”Scheid. Their friendship grew into a loving romance, and they were married in 1983. During her years in Winslow, she partnered with Bill in managing and expanding Scheid Enterprises. When time allowed, they loved to travel scenic roads all over the country. Their trip to Ireland inspired her interest in her own family ancestry. She played organ at local churches and served on the Winslow School Board for many years. Marian loved handwork and became a proficient quilter. She was a member of the Winslow Quilt Guild and won many ribbons at local and state competitions. She enjoyed making quilts for her dear family and friends and took pride in contributing her skills for quilts honoring Native American Code Talkers and Quilts of Valor.

Marian is survived by her children: Jeffrey Blair (Michelle); Andrew Wood; David Scheid (Cynthia); Julie Meyers; Diane McKinney; Kay Shaver (Mike); her sister Lois Irene Reitz of Kansas City, Missouri; her nieces Joann Adams and Susan Doyle (Jim); and brother-in-law John M. Reitz. She leaves 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and many other family

members and friends. Her warmhearted, generous, fun, and friendly spirit will be greatly

missed.

Preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years Bill Scheid; her parents Martin and

Irene Bligh; and son-in-law Larry Meyers.

Her final resting place will be next to her husband in Montour, Iowa.
