Richard Donald Parry passed away suddenly on May 12, 2025 at the age of 74. He was born to Donald and Marguerite (Betterly) Parry on July 10, 1950 in Hazleton PA.

 He moved to Ohio at a young age, where he lived a classic midwestern childhood that he always described as a 1950s sitcom (Leave it to Beaver). After graduating high school, he served four years in the Air Force, where he became a radio operator and was stationed near Tokyo, Japan. After leaving the military, he acquired his degree while working for General Electric in Ohio.

Rick moved to Poughkeepsie, NY in 1979, where he worked for IBM in various roles until retiring in 2012. Outside of work, he enjoyed golf, reading, yardwork and spending time with his family. His retirement years were spent in the company of close friends enjoying concerts, dinners, tennis, walks, and even more golf. He also enjoyed being a docent at the Vanderbilt Mansion for many years, where he shared his love of history by conducting tours for visitors from around the world.

Survived by his older brother Bruce and his two children, his son Michael and his daughter Samantha, the joys of his life. He was a beloved father and friend. He will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 10AM-1PM at the Wm. G. Miller & Son FH, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Entombment with Military Honors will follow at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
