Maria Vargas

Maria Luisa Vargas, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.

Maria was born in Morovis, Puerto Rico, and moved to San Francisco in 1950, where she made her home and lived for the rest of her life. In 1953, she married Israel Vargas Franceschi, who preceded her in death on September 4, 2015.

She was also a proud and devoted member of El Club Puertorriqueño de San Francisco since 1953, where she found lifelong friendships and community.

She is survived by her children, IrmaIris and Antonio; her daughter-in-law, Isabel Berrios Vargas; and her three granddaughters, Vanessa, Renée, and Elena. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.
