Maria Salo
Maria Canale Salo Age 76, while surrounded by family members, went to be with her lord and savior Jesus Christ on October 5, 2025. Survived by her son, Jonathan Canale Salo and sister, Sue (Joe) Wilmington, NC and many other cousins. Predeceased by her Mother (Bea) and Father (Mario).
The Family would like to thank Kathy Treceno for her many years of dedication to Maria as well as Judi Capezutti and Michelle O’Connor for being present in her time of passing.
Glens Falls was Maria’s hometown; she worked as a bellhop and valet for The Queensbury Hotel in her youth.
She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1967 then went on to graduate from Georgetown University. Maria then graduated Cum Laude from Boston University, receiving her master’s degree and went into social work.
Maria found herself devoted to her job as a guidance counselor at Windsor High School. She proudly helped the youth for 18 years and retired back to Glens Falls around 2017.
Even after retirement, Maria chose to volunteer as a guidance counselor for St. Mary’s Academy in devotion to helping as many people she could.
Besides her schooling and job, Maria enjoyed many things, a fond love of dogs, especially her Golden Retrievers . She loved feeding the birds outside her window, cardinals were her favorite. Her flower gardens, for attracting many butterflies to watch. A good home cooked meal, guaranteed to be one of her mother’s recipes. Maria loved many things, her good friends, her loving family, but the greatest love of her life was God.
Her service to the faith and her trust in the Lord was unmatched.
May she rest in eternal peace and be rewarded for her life of devotion.
Calling Hours will be Tuesday, October 14, 2025 from 10am-11:30am at Singleton Sullivan Potter Funeral Home, 407 Bay Road, Queensbury NY 12804.
Pastor Jeff Stappenbeck from New Hope Community Church will conduct at celebration of life service at 11:30am which will immediately be followed by the burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in South Glens Falls.
