Maria Pilar Carrion

Maria Pilar Lopezbaños-Carrion was welcomed to her eternal home on July 16, 2025, in Burlingame, California after her battle with cancer.

Pia, or Mama P as she was affectionately known, was a bright light to those around her. She was constantly living her life in accordance with Jesus’ teachings. Her earthly journey was marked by an unshakeable devotion to love, compassion, community, and forgiveness.

Mama P is survived by her husband Mike and her son Miguel. She was the eldest daughter of Eugenio and Carmen (predeceased). Pia also leaves behind her siblings JoAn and Ramsey, her niece Gabby, and her nephews Raphael and Michael.

She was born on October 12, 1964 in Quezon City, Philippines and lived there until she immigrated to the United States in 2004.

After her graduation from the University of the Philippines, Diliman, she became employed by ABS-CBN and worked her way to becoming the Director for Radio and Regional Network Group Promo before she eventually worked again for ABS-CBN International’s production department as Head of TV Promotions and finally Public Relations. She dedicated her life to highlighting and uplifting stories about the Filipino community.

Outside of work, Mama P was involved with the Focolare Movement, a global community-based organization preaching the values of a more united world through dialogue, empathy, and loving one’s neighbors.

She was also involved with her local parish of Saint Robert’s in San Bruno, California.

Mama P enjoyed hiking, coffee, asking questions, and telling stories.

She was integrity personified, grace and dignity humanized. Kindness in its purest form.

The viewing and vigil will be on July 24 & 25 • 4-8PM at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary

Funeral Service will be on July 26 • 11AM at St Robert’s Church San Bruno, CA. Reception to follow at St Robert’s Hennessy Hall.
