Mari Brown

Mari Jo Brown, 77, of Atchison, Kansas passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, at Gran Villa.

Funeral services will be held 10:30AM, Monday, June 23, 2025, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Atchison, Kansas with Pastor Elizabeth Carr officiating the service. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens in Atchison. A visitation with the family will be from 10:00-10:30AM, the day of the service at the church. Mari Jo was born November 19, 1947, in Atchison, Kansas, the daughter of Raymond and Betty (Lindsey) Wagner. A pianist from a young age, she played at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Atchison, local schools and events. She was invited to study music at the Benedictine College as a special student while she finished high school. Mari Jo left a lasting imprint on all she touched with her music, her humor, and her unique perspective on life. She lived and worked in the Southern Pines area of North Carolina for the greater portion of her life, where she was supported by a diverse music community.

She is survived by her sons, Timothy (Elizabeth) Brown and Sean (Lizz) Brown, daughter, Norah Brown (Joslin), four grandchildren, sister, Amelia (Jerry) Kaczmarek and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded by her parents.
