Manuel Romero

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Manuel Romero, who passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025, at the age of 90 in the Bronx, New York.

Born on January 9, 1935, in Cans, Porto do Son, Spain, Manuel was the beloved son of Josefa Maneiro and Jose Romero. The eldest of seven siblings, Manuel took on the role of a pioneer and protector early in life. At just 16, he bravely left his homeland—a journey that ultimately allowed him to bring his family to the United States and build a life marked by perseverance, sacrifice and love.

Manuel made his home in the Bronx, NY, where he spent 21 dedicated years working for the New York City Transit Authority (NYCTA). His commitment to providing for his family was unwavering, and his legacy continues.

He was the devoted husband of Estrella Romero, and together they built a life centered on family. Manuel was a proud father to Jose Romero, Jaime Romero, and Ramond Vinagre Romero, and an adoring grandfather to eight grandchildren, whose lives he touched with his quiet strength, humor, and enduring love.

Manuel’s passions included fishing and boating. He found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life—especially when he had his wife, three sons, and grandchildren gathered around him. He will be remembered for his warm smile, hard work ethic and sacrifice, and deep love for family.

He is preceded in death by loved ones who went before him and is survived by his wife Estrella, his children Jose, Jaime, and Ramond, and his cherished grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Tuesday, July 22, from 4 PM to 8 PM at Farenga Bros Funeral Home, located at 920 Allerton Ave, Bronx, NY 10469.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 23, at 10 AM, at Holy Rosary Church, Bronx, NY 10469, followed by interment at St. Raymond’s Cemetery, Bronx, NY 10465

Manuel Romero’s story is one of courage, devotion, and the unwavering pursuit of a better life for those he loved. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
