Malcolm “Mac” Lee Carter, Jr. age 83 of Ellijay, GA died on Friday June 20th, 2025, at his home as a result of on automobile accident.

He was born May 19th, 1942, to Malcolm Lee Carter and Hazael (Bynum) Carter in Amarillo, TX. He graduated from high school in Pampa, TX and received his BSE from Texas Tech University. His occupations were as varied and unique as he was. He taught history, owned a computer store, the family business was prestressed concrete, was a construction supervisor, built and remodeled homes, and was a catastrophic insurance adjustor. He has a genius level IQ combined with a dry wit and had a knack for storytelling. He would meet his third wife (Candace Carter) through match.com. They were married September 28th, 2009, in Gatlinburg, TN. In retirement, he was past president of the POA where he resided in the Coosawattee River Resort. He could frequently be seen driving his red Kawasaki UTC around the neighborhood.

Survivors include his wife, Candace Schmidt Carter; two children from a previous marriage, Malcom Lee Carter, III and his wife, Susan, an estranged daughter Sara Carter; a special nephew, Lyndy Carter; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; last but not least, two family cats, Oscar and the best 24 hour nurse, his name is Orville and he works for Kibble.

Memorial Services will be held at 3:00pm on Monday July 7th, 2025 from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Rosser officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to your local humane society in memory of Mac Carter.
