Mabel Davidson

Mrs. Mabel Alice Davidson, 89, passed away on August 21, 2025 in White Plains, New York. Mabel, also nicknamed Chick or Chickie, was born in Bronx, New York on October 31, 1935, a Halloween baby. Mabel’s family owned a summer home in Copake Falls, New York where she spent many summers enjoying the country life and swimming at Copake State Park. She lived most of her life in her beloved home in North White Plains near woods and wildlife with her husband of 65 years.

Mabel was the daughter of Mabel Hazel Curry and Marvin Allison Gramlich and the eldest sister of George William Gramlich, Sally Mae Gramlich Wong, and Merry Susan Gramlich Hendrix.

In the late 1950’s, Mabel fell in love with her beloved husband Arthur William Davidson and they were married on May 21, 1960. Together they raised three children – Laura Lee Davidson Wilson wife of Peter Wilson, John Arthur Davidson husband of Linda King Davidson, and Peter Marvin Davidson.

Mabel had six grandchildren whom she loved dearly — Derrick Davidson, Joshua Wilson, Austin Davidson, Brooklyn Davidson, Tyler Wilson, and Eric Davidson. Each was special to Mabel and she loved to hear of their activities and accomplishments.

An active member of the Westchester Church of Christ, Mabel was involved in caring for the needs of others whether it was serving in the children’s ministry, comforting someone in need, or helping distribute clothing and food. Mabel’s deep faith led her to put others first.

Nature always captivated Mabel and she loved to go camping which she and Arthur frequently did covering the whole of the United States as well as Canada and Alaska.

Prior to having her children, Mabel worked as a secretary at the Borden Cheese Company and later, when her children were grown, she did temporary secretarial work at various companies in the Westchester area. She also volunteered for the Common Council of New York mailing out religious tracts.

The viewing service is to be held on Monday, August 25th from 4-8pm at McMahon, Lyon, & Hartnett Funeral Home (491 Mamaroneck Avenue, White Plains, NY). On Tuesday, August 26th there will be a church service at 10am at the Westchester Church of Christ (511 North Street, White Plains, NY) and then she will be laid to rest at Ferncliff Cemetery (280 Secor Road, Hartsdale, NY).

The family requests that flowers be sent to McMahon, Lyon, & Hartnett Funeral Home. As Mabel was an integral member of the church, the family requests that donations be sent to the Westchester Church of Christ.
