On March 5, 2025, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office received a report regarding an incident in Dayton, where a “Kill List” was discovered on a bus belonging to the Lyon County School District.
The list, inscribed on a piece of paper, was found torn and discarded in a trash bin by another student.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Lyon County School District, initiated an investigation to determine the specific bus associated with the list.
Subsequently, the School Resource Officer assigned to the Dayton schools successfully identified the student who had created the list.
After engaging in a discussion with the student, it was determined that the student has no access to firearms and there was no immediate threat to the schools or students.
However threats to the school / students are taken seriously, and there will be charges brought against the juvenile responsible.
This investigation remains ongoing, and due to the involvement of multiple juvenile students, further information cannot be disclosed at this time.
Any questions or information in reference to this case can be directed to Sgt. Mark Kosak by calling (775) 463-6600. Reference Case # 25LY00892
