Lyon County Sheriff responds to violent road rage incident

On August 25, 2025, at approximately 4:50 p.m., Lyon County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a reported traffic accident at the Community Response and Resource Center near Lois Lane in Fernley. Deputies arrived to find an injured male, later identified as Ricky Fields, who was being treated by North Lyon County Fire Department personnel.
The investigation revealed the incident began as a road rage dispute and escalated when bystanders became involved. During the altercation, multiple individuals brandished weapons, a vehicle was damaged, and Fields sustained injuries that required hospitalization.
As a result of the investigation, deputies arrested and booked the following individuals into the Lyon County Jail:
- Ricky Fields – Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Robbery, Reckless Driving
o Total Bail: $81,890.00 - Joseph Cantrell – Battery with a Deadly Weapon; Obstructing/False Statements
o Total Bail: $41,140.00 - Christopher Cantrell – Battery with a Deadly Weapon; Obstructing/False Statements
o Total Bail: $41,140.00
