Lydia Edejer
- April 13, 2025

Lydia “Lelang” Reyes Edejer was born on April 8, 1935, in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, to the youngest of four. With a Bachelor’s degree in Education, she dedicated 23 years to serving her community through teaching. Throughout her outstanding career, she was fortunate enough to be assigned to a pioneering elementary school program in Lucapon South, where she met the love of her life, Naval Edejer.
Together with her husband, Naval, and their three childrenDonnell, Nona, Jun, and their adopted son, Josephthey packed their bags and made the life-changing decision to immigrate to the United States. With her strong grit and discipline, Lydia worked hard to raise her children, and in return, they cared for her in her final years.
As a devoted Catholic, Lydia would pray and read the bible every night before going to bed. Her strong connection to her faith was naturally passed down to her children. Everyone who knew Lydia saw her love for life, especially when it came to tennis, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and classic Filipino movies. Through her hospitality and openness, she became known as the community grandmother, “Lelang,” caring for all her children, grandchildren, and, not least, the friends and family who were fortunate enough to have her care for them.
Lydia is survived by her three children and her countless loving grandchildren.
