Lorraine Hardison

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life filled with love, faith, and family, we announce the passing of Lorraine Hardison Cannizzo, who departed this world on May 25, 2025.

Lorraine was first married to Joseph Cannizzo, with whom she built a beautiful family and shared many years of love and partnership. Together, they raised four children, (Susan Betos, Lawrence Cannizzo, Peter Cannizzo, & Diane Aguilera) one whom she now joins in eternal peace (Peter Cannizzo). Later in life, she found love again and married Raleigh Hardison, with whom she spent her later years surrounded by joy, faith, and enduring companionship.

Her legacy lives on through her nine grandchildren Kimberly Alterio, Michelle Betos, Michael Cannizzo, Philip Aguilera, Joseph Cannizzo, Robert Cannizzo,

Tiffany Aguilera, Amber Aguilera, Caitlin Aguilera, and one great-grandchild James Alterio, all of whom she adored and loved deeply and unconditionally.

A devout Catholic, Lorraine’s faith guided her every step. She considered Jesus her best friend, and spoke of the miracles He performed in her life. Second only to her devotion to her family and religion, were the Bronx and the New York Yankees. She was a pillar of strength, warmth and goodness and a true beacon of God’s Light. Her family was the heart of her world, and she spent her life ensuring they always felt deeply loved and supported.

Lorraine will be remembered for her steadfast spirit, her deep compassion, and the quiet strength that touched all who knew her. Her presence was a source of peace, comfort and acceptance, and her absence will be felt profoundly.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Lorraine’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital (
