Lori Merkling

Lori Merkling (Betzinger), 66 of Carney, MI, born on January 28, 1959 was welcomed into heaven August 2nd 2025, by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, whom she loved very much. Lori was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She believed her purpose in life was to be a mother and a grandmother, which she considered her greatest blessing. She enjoyed the blessing of true love and a 37-year marriage deeply devoted to, and in love with her husband Stacey Merkling. They were true soul mates, and they walked together in faith to the end of her days and beyond. She retired in 2016, after 23 years as the school secretary from Carney Nadeau Public School. She is fondly remembered by the many students whose lives were touched by her kind and loving personality. She was a beacon in the school and in the community. Lori was a woman who naturally sensed who around her was less fortunate, or in pain, or in need of love and kindness. Lori was one of the kindest, most maternal, nurturing, beautiful souls to ever grace this earth.

She is survived by the love of her life and husband, Stacey Merkling, their daughters Kendra (Seth) and Karlee (Kevin), and four amazing grandchildren, Mila, Chloe, Maylee, and River. Her loving parents Roger and Barbara Betzinger, five siblings RJ (Jane) Betzinger, Rick (Helena) Betzinger, Steve (Trish) Betzinger, Angie (Brian) Williams, and Billie Jo Tebo (Ben) and two special friends, Carol and Lisa.

She was preceded in death by her brother Bob Betzinger.

To honor Lori’s wishes there will be no funeral services. In lieu of flowers or a card, please share some kindness with one another, give a hug, notice who may need a little extra time or love and give it, like she always did. Please keep the family in your prayers as they learn to navigate such a profound loss.
