August 10, 1971- June 25, 2025

Lori Beth Kurz, a beloved wife, mother, and cherished educator, was welcomed into the Lord’s embrace on June 25, 2025. Lori was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on August 10, 1971, and departed this life at Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa, at the age of 53. She lived a life marked by faith, love, and an unwavering commitment to her family and students.

Lori’s journey began as the daughter of the late Shirley (nee Conforti) Maloney and John “Jack” Maloney, and she was a stepdaughter to Jane Maloney. She grew up alongside her brother, John Maloney and cousins Tony Lia, Katie Myer and Karen Myer, along with the loving support of her Aunt Mary and Uncle Ray Myer. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.

After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from UW Whitewater, Lori embarked on a fulfilling career as an educator. She first shared her passion for knowledge at Saint Sebastian Catholic School in Sturtevant, and then continued to inspire young minds at Lance Middle School in Kenosha, Saint Margaret Mary, and Saint Joseph Catholic School in Big Bend. Lori’s love for teaching middle school science and religion was evident in her creative lesson plans and the positive impact she had on her students. Her classrooms were places of discovery and growth, where every child was valued and encouraged to reach their full potential.

Lori’s life was a testament to her deep Christian faith. As a devout Catholic, she not only taught religious studies but also lived her beliefs through her actions and interactions with others. Her faith was her guiding light, and it shone brightly in all she did.

Married to her loving husband, Peter M. Kurz, Lori found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Together, they raised three wonderful children: Peter, Christina, and Natalia. Lori’s role as a mother was her greatest joy, and she instilled in her children the values of kindness, humor, and love. She cherished moments spent scrapbooking memories, watching Hallmark movies, and exploring new places with her family. Their vacations to the Dells and the memorable road trip to Custer, South Dakota, were highlights that brought smiles and stories for years to come.

Those who knew Lori will remember her for her loving nature, her kind heart, and her witty sense of humor. She had a unique ability to make each person feel special and valued. Her smile was infectious, and her presence brought warmth to any room.

As we reflect on Lori’s life, we are reminded of the words of Mother Teresa, “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.” Lori lived by this principle, touching countless lives with her great love and the small, everyday acts of kindness that made her extraordinary.

Lori Beth Kurz will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the many students whose lives she touched. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she loved and the countless memories shared. We take comfort in knowing that she rests in peace, embraced by the love of our Creator.
