It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Letizia Petronio Stanzini on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at the Life Care Center of Hendersonville. Born on December 2, 1931, in the beautiful city of Trieste, Italy, to the late Giusto and Lina Daltin Petronio, Letizia graced this world for 93 years, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and inspiration.
Letizia’s journey took her from the cobblestone streets of Trieste to the bustling cityscape of New York in 1957, where she embraced a new life with determination and grace. In 2018, she moved to the serene surroundings of Hendersonville, North Carolina, where she spent her remaining years surrounded by family and friends.
A woman of many passions, Letizia found joy in the art of knitting and sewing, creating pieces that were as warm as they were intricate. Her love for opera filled her home with the enchanting melodies of arias, while her own singing voice was a gift to all who heard it. Letizia was never without a crossword puzzle in hand, her sharp mind always eager for a challenge. She also delighted in gathering around the table to play cards and dice with loved ones, where laughter and camaraderie were always present.
Preceded in death by, in addition to parents, her devoted husband, Bruno Stanzini; her cherished son, Fabio Stanzini; her son-in-law, George W. Greene; and her dear brothers, Omero and Alcide Petronio, Letizia now joins them in eternal peace.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Gabriella Greene; and her son, Dario Stanzini, along with his wife Heather. Her legacy continues through her four grandchildren, Stefany Brown (Michael), Allison Farmer (John), Nicole Galasso (John), and Louis Stanzini (Elana), as well as her four great-grandchildren, Aidan Brown, Brinley Brown, Katherine Farmer, and Benjamin Farmer. Letizia also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and countless special friends who enriched her life.
Letizia’s warmth, wisdom, and unwavering spirit touched everyone she met. Her memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A mass service will be held at a later date.
