Leonarda Rabago

Leonarda “Auntie Anding” passed away peacefully on the morning of August 7, 2025.

Born on November 6, 1932, in Alaminos, Philippines, she was the sixth of seven children of Victoriano and Petra Rabago.

She grew up alongside her siblings Virginia, Joe, Maura, Quirina, Paz, and Lydia. Her schooling was cut short by the

Japanese invasion during World War II, but her determination and strong work ethic carried her through the years that

followed. After the war, she helped her family in their rice fields and later worked various jobs in Alaminos and Manila.

In 1986, with the help of her sister Paz, Auntie Anding fulfilled a long-held dream by immigrating to the United States.

She settled in San Francisco, where she lived with Paz and embraced her new home wholeheartedly.

Becoming an American citizen in 1997 was a milestone she treasured—passing the exam was a source of immense pride,

and she proved wrong those who doubted she could achieve it.

Auntie Anding and Paz were inseparable, especially during Paz’s retirement years. When her niece Judy began raising a family, Auntie joined Paz in caring for Judy’s three children—Daniel, Sarah, and Jake—showering them with love and

devotion.

A devoted sports fan, Auntie could often be found cheering on the San Francisco Giants, 49ers, Golden State Warriors, and most recently the Valkyries, proudly noting, “The women are very good basketball players!”

Auntie Anding is preceded in death by her parents, Victoriano and Petra, and siblings Virginia, Maura, Joe, Paz, Lydia and

her nieces Violeta and Ponsit.

She is survived by her sister Quirina; her children Cesar, Juna (and his wife Deanna and their children Stefan, Bianca,

Katrina, Johann), (son in law Pat and his children Vita, Verona, Inia), Karen (and her husband Ronald and their children

Kate and Matthew), and Cristy; her nieces Linda, and Judy (and her husband Randy and their children Daniel, Jake, and Sarah, along with Sarah’s fiancé Chris); and countless family and friends who will miss her dearly.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, a testament to a life filled with strength, loyalty, and love.
