Leo Helfrich

Leo Allan Helfrich was born on July 24, 1936, in Portreeve, Saskatchewan, and passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, at Sagewood Care Centre.

Leo will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Celine, and his children: Daryl Helfrich (Angie), Nadine Stefan, Michele Mathieu (Tim), Collin Helfrich (Toni), and Jason Helfrich (Kim). He also leaves behind his dear sisters Eleanor Helfrich and Josie Krenbrink, his brother Jerome Helfrich, 11 cherished grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren who brought him endless pride and joy.

Leo was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Apolonia, and his brothers Nick, John, Eugene, Ralph, and Pius.

A natural-born salesman, Leo began his career by founding Superior Feed and Supply alongside his brothers. He later moved into real estate, building a successful career that spanned over 40 years. Leo’s dedication and passion for his work shone through proudly making his final sale at the age of 80.

Well known in the community, Leo gave generously of his time and talents through many organizations, including the Cheadle Lions Club, the Agricultural Society, the Strathmore Curling Club, and the Strathmore Historical Society.

Leo will be remembered for his generous and gentle spirit, his patient nature, his warm handshake and welcoming smile, and his playful sense of humor. He was always ready with a good-natured prank to brighten someone’s day. He loved to travel and camp with family and friends. He had a lifelong passion for hockey and baseball, cheering on his favorite teams and sharing his enthusiasm with those around him.

He leaves behind a legacy of hardwork, community service, kindness, and laughter that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to Wheatland and Area Hospice Society.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
