Lawrence C. “Tip” Tippett passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon in his home in Knotts Island, NC with his loving wife of over 61 years and family by his side. “Tip” as he was affectionately known by family and close friends, had health issues over the past few years. He was born April 5, 1946, in Norfolk, VA to the late Charles William and Cecil Frances Young Tippett. He attended The Barry Robinson Campus in Norfolk and worked for the U.S. government at Morale Welfare and Recreation and retiring after 39 years of service. Mr. Tippett was a member of St. Johns The Apostle Catholic Church in Virginia Beach until his declining health permitted him from doing so. “Tip” was an avid outdoorsman who especially loved to fish and hunt. He enjoyed maintaining his yard and garden, which was his biggest enjoyment and source of relaxation. Mr. Tippett loved music and dancing. He enjoyed being around his friends, family, and neighbors, cooking, and hosting get togethers and always available to assist those in need.

“Tip” is survived by his loving wife, Mary F. Tippett to whom he married on May 7, 1964; his two sons, David W. Tippett and wife, Katie and Jeffrey B. Tippett and wife, Cathy all of Virginia Beach, VA; his three granddaughters, Virginia Tippett, Mari Trant, and Mary Elizabeth Tippett; and two grandsons, Nathan Tippett and David Tippett. His wonderful legacy will live on through his loving family and friends.

The Mass will be Friday October 17, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 1968 Sandbridge Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23456. Rev Dr. Felix R. Amofa, will officiate. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium. Oman Funeral Home and Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, Va 23322 is serving Mr. Tippett’s family.
