Larry DeLane “LD” Compton, age 93, of Festus, Missouri, passed away Wednesday September 24, 2025 at his home. He was born January 15, 1932 in Bonne Terre, Missouri, the son of the late Viola (nee Drier) and Herbert Compton.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years Marie Ellen (nee Leon) Compton and a great-grandson Kanaan Compton.

He is survived by his daughter Lori (Curt) Grass of Crystal City, Missouri; sons John Compton of Crystal City, Lonnie (Marcie) Compton of Crystal City, Kerry (Cindy) Compton of Festus and Larry “Chip” (Alicia) Compton of Festus; sister Joyce (the late Al) Penwright of California; grandchildren Michelle (David) Michaud, Christopher (Kristy) Grass, Gabriel Compton, Shanna (Scott) Meyer, Kailyn (Brock) Moser, Taylor (Alison) Compton, Sarah Compton, Philip Compton, Jordan (Jessica) Compton, Sydney (Austin) Compton and Shea (Connor) Mahurin; and great-grandchildren Gavin Grass, Carson Grass, Ava Grass, Sophia Michaud, Jack Michaud, Tayte Compton, Mayleigh Compton, Alison Compton, Lena Compton, Kaleb Compton, Lane Teddleton, Lawson Reichert, Eden Skiles, Viola Moser, Mason Compton, Lola Cook, Cohen Compton, Camryn Compton, Riley Meyer and Reese Meyer.

He served his country in the U.S. Army, was a member of Our Lady Church in Festus, American Legion Post #253, Knights of Columbus Council #1230, a lover of airplanes and horses, the owner of the Phillips 66 Express Mart at Hwy 67 and American Legion Drive and the 50-year owner/operator of L.D. Compton Construction Company.

Visitation will be at Our Lady Church from 11:30 A.M. until the time of funeral Mass at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 1, 2025, officiated by Fr. Zachary Povis and Deacon Jerry Stoverink. Interment with full military honors to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. In lieu of flowers memorials in LD’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, Breakthrough T1D Juvenile Diabetes Research, or the Knights of Columbus #1230 building fund.
