- May 23, 2025

Kim L. Rudy, 68, of Springfield, Ohio, passed away on May 22, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on November 01, 1956, in Troy, Ohio to her mother Ruthan Kitchen.
Born with a nurturing spirit and a boundless heart, Kim dedicated her life to caring for others. As a licensed practical nurse, she found her true calling in long-term care, offering compassion and comfort to individuals living with dementia and developmental disabilities. Her patients and their families often said she did not just treat them—she loved them. Outside of her profession, Kim filled her days with joy and creativity. She was an Ohio State Buckeyes fan, she rarely missed a game and cheered as passionately from her living room as she would have from the stands. Christmas was her favorite time of year, and she made the season magical for everyone around her, decking the halls with handmade decorations and filling her home with warmth, laughter, and the scent of her cherished homemade candles. She had a special place in her heart for animals, especially dogs, and her home was never without a four-legged friend—or two. The ocean was her sanctuary, and she treasured every chance to walk its shores, breathe in the salty air, and marvel at the waves.
She was the cherished wife of Bill Rudy for 38 wonderful years. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and family. She is also survived by her children: Jessica Rudy and her husband Kyle Loper; Terri Downing and her significant other Thomas Ganger; and Michael Downing. Her brother, Andy Dankworth, also survives her. Kim was immensely proud of her grandchildren—Jordan, Nikki, Willie, Harley, Breanna, Maverick, and Rhiannon—who were the light of her life. She also adored her great-grandchildren: Kenzie, Graven Ray, Nathan, and Xavier. Her love extended to many nieces and nephews, all of whom felt her warmth and generosity. She is now reunited with her mother, Ruthan Kitchen, in eternal rest.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Grand Heights Baptist Church found at, 1611 Armstrong Rd, Fairborn.Visitation will begin at 10:00am with services starting at noon.
