Kevin Johnson

“I have fought a good fight; I have finished my course,

Kevin A. Johnson, a loving soul whose light shined brightly in the lives of many, transitioned into eternal rest on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at the age of 52.

Born on March 21, 1973, at Wallace Thomson Hospital in Union, South Carolina, Kevin was a gift from God to Opal and Curtis Johnson. In 1978, at just five years old, he moved with his family to Hartford, Connecticut, where his journey continued. Kevin was educated in the Plainville school system and later proudly earned his GED.

Ambitious by nature and passionate in spirit, Kevin was an entrepreneur at heart. Alongside his cousin, he co-founded J and J Odds & Ends Services, a business born out of dedication and vision. Most recently, he served as Duty Foreman for YJ Cleaning and Maintenance, LLC, where he was respected for his leadership, reliability, and strong work ethic.

Kevin’s life was deeply rooted in love-love for his family, his community, and his beliefs. He leaves behind his devoted life partner, Lisa McMullen of Hartford, CT, his sons, Jacquan Caesar and Jekiery Durant, and cherished bonus grandson, Willie “Lil Will” Wright, III. His memory will be held dearly by his parents, Opal and Curtis Johnson of Hartford, CT; three sisters: Tiffany Johnson Gordon (Burchell) of Vernon, CT, Shaena Gibson, and Jasmine Gibson both of Tuscaloosa, AL; a brother, Cherron McKinnon (Charville), and a bonus brother, Chaz Fort, both of Hartford, CT; and his biological father, Daniel Gibson of Tuscaloosa, AL.

He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

Though Kevin’s earthly journey has ended, we find peace in knowing his soul is now cradled in God’s eternal care. His laughter, his music, his strength, and his unwavering love remain with us. May we honor his legacy by continuing to love one another, as he so graciously loved us.
