Kelly Darrell Higgins, aged 53, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025, at the Four Seasons Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, NC. Born on June 22, 1971, in Spartanburg, SC, Kelly lived a life full of love, laughter, and adventure.

Kelly served as a maintenance supervisor with Henderson County Parks and Recreation for 13 years, where his presence was felt by many colleagues who appreciated his dedication and work ethic. Beyond his professional life, Kelly’s true passions shone brightly through his love for travel and hot rod classic cars. An enthusiastic fan, he cherished cheering on the Atlanta Braves and the Oakland Raiders. In his earlier years, Kelly was an avid softball player, cultivating friendships and treasured memories on the field.

He was happiest when surrounded by those he loved—spending time with his fiancé, nieces, nephews, and cherished friends. Kelly embraced the great outdoors, enjoying activities such as hiking, sledding, and relaxing at the family lake house. He was known for his quick wit and enjoyed sharing jokes and funny stories with all who knew him. As a dedicated member of the Elks Lodge, Kelly built strong community ties and was always ready to lend a helping hand.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Higgins, and his beloved fur baby, Bug.

Kelly is survived by his loving mother, Patsy Rector, and her husband, Bobby; his devoted fiancé, Amy Norman; brother, Jeffrey Higgins; sister, Julie Edwards; nieces: Morgan Mintz and Riley Higgins; nephew, Seth Harrelson; and his bonus family: Dana Holinski, Reese Holinski, Braxton Malone, Blakeley Malone, and Chasity Bloomfield.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of Kelly’s life on Sunday, June 15, 2025, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM in the chapel of Shuler Funeral Home. A beloved uncle and friend to many, Kelly will be fondly remembered as “the coolest uncle ever.”

His laughter, warmth, and kindness will be forever missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
