Katrina Elsie Young, 79, of State Highway 56, Colton died Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at her daughter’s home in South Colton.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 29 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Lawrence Funeral Home, 21 Park Street, Canton.  

Funeral services will be held prior to burial in Beech Plains Cemetery in West Pierrepont with Lay Pastor Kenny Ashley presiding on Saturday at 10 am.

Katrina was the daughter of the late Benjamin Floyd and Drusilla Irene (McEwen) Grant and was born October 22, 1946 in Canton, NY.   She attended Northrup Corners Country School through the 4th grade before enrolling in Canton High School, where she graduated in 1964. 

She enlisted in the US Air Force until 1966 and was stationed at Westover AFB in Massachusetts, where she served proudly. She was honorably discharged when she got married and began her life in Sodus.

Surviving are her three children, a son Alan  (Nicole) Young of Sodus NY; two daughters Janis Young of Colton NY and Drusilla  (John) Giovenco of Ontario NY; four grandsons, Nicholas (Theresa) Fountain, Zachary (Emily) Young, Jacob Young, and Aiden Young, one granddaughter Adriana Giovenco, and one great granddaughter Carter Fountain. 

Katrina was a member of VFW Ladies Auxillary Post 1231 in Canton.  She also was fond of knitting, crocheting, cross-stitch, reading and studying geaneology. She was also known to write poetry and limericks, some of which were not fitting for young ears. Her flower gardens were her pride and joy.
