Kathleen “Kay” Moran, 84, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025, surrounded by family.
Kay is survived by her children Mary (Matt) Anderson, Maureen (John Ashenden) Moran, Bonnie (Walt) Liptak, and Sheila (Marvin Vissers) Moran; beloved KayKay to Bridget, Darby (Sarah), Ian, Caitlin (Pedro), John (Christine), Emily, Allison, Sadie, Joe, Margo, and Sean.
Kay was born in Chicago to William and Catherine (McCafferty) Fish and grew up on the Southside of Chicago. After graduating from Longwood Academy, Kay worked and studied at Loyola University of Chicago, where she met Paul. Paul and Kay married in 1964 at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church in Evergreen Park.
While raising their four daughters in the western suburbs of Chicago and later, Fontana, WI, Paul and Kay ran a successful trucking company for almost 50 years. In her free time, Kay enjoyed reading, gardening and spending time with family and friends. Kay loved learning—especially about astronomy, physics and nature. Kay was known for her sharp mind and her deep love for her grandchildren and her dogs.
Kay was preceded in death by her husband Paul, her parents and her brother William “Bill” (Shirley) Fish.
Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, May 31 at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 137 Dewey Ave., Fontana from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to The Nature Conservancy, Attn: Treasury, 4245 N. Fairfax Drive, Suite 100, Arlington, VA 22203 USA.
