Juana Siguenza Hernandez

Juana “Mama Juanita” Sigüenza Hernandez, 89, of Pittsburg, CA, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025 in Antioch CA.

Mama Juanita was born in San Vicente, El Salvador, where she grew up. Later in life she made her home in Martinez and then Pittsburg, California, where she resided until her passing.

Mama Juanita enjoyed the simple things, like a good Salvadorean tamale or a pupusa with some curtido. She also enjoyed watching good TV shows or movies.

Mama Juanita was the youngest of five siblings, and having five kids of her own, she leaves behind a large, loving family: Her daughters, Juana Griselda Hernandez, Maria “Lolita” Rosales, Reina Barrera; her sons, Julio Siguenza and Carlos Hernandez. Also 12 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.

In accordance with her wishes, Mama Juanita will be cremated, and there will be no formal funeral service. Instead, her family will host a small private gathering and inurnment memorial of close friends and loved ones to honor her life.

Predeceased by her siblings Maria, Jorge, Carmen, Nanda, Napo, and granddaughter Glenda Hernandez.
