Juan Meza

Juan Antonio Meza, age 65, of Chicago, IL, passed away peacefully at home on March 15, 2025. Born in Guadalupe Victoria, Mexico on June 10, 1959.

Juan immigrated to Chicago in 1974 and made it his home for over five decades. He was preceded in death by his father Juan Meza, his mother Avilia Meza, and his brothers, Servando Contreras and Carlos Eloy Meza.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rosa Meza; his children, Juan A. Meza Jr, Crystal Barron, Jesus Barron, Alexander Meza, Carina Gonzalez, Vanessa Meza. Juan was a proud grandfather to 22 grandchildren and great-grandfather to 4 great-grandchildren.

Juan’s two main fields of work were automotive repair and road repair. His deep passion was for cars and possessed an uncanny ability to diagnose mechanical issues just by the sound of an engine.

He worked on the redesign of S-Curve on Lakeshore Drive in the early 80’s as an operator ; working the excavator and backhoe. Also helped in the laying of asphalt; and many other road repairs through the Chicago metro area. In the 90’s he worked as a mechanic for several automotive shops throughout the north-side of Chicago. In the 2000 he worked primary as an operator preparing the ground for foundation laying. He worked on projects near the United Center and near suburbs.

He also, enjoyed the simple pleasure of exploring the city on his bicycle, a familiar figure to many in his community.
