Joyce Fisher

On the morning of Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the age of 71, Joyce Williams Fisher peacefully entered her heavenly home, where she was joyfully reunited with her beloved husband, Buddy, her precious son, Allen, and most importantly, her Savior, Jesus Christ.

Born on February 16, 1954, in McDowell County, Joyce was the daughter of the late Garland and Lena Pearson Williams. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Don Williams, and sister, Faye Waycaster.

A faithful member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Old Fort, Joyce lived a life full of love and kindness. She retired as a dedicated store manager with Advance Auto Parts, where she built many lasting friendships. Even after retirement, Joyce enjoyed continuing to work part-time with the company, a reflection of her strong work ethic and the joy she found in connecting with others.

Joyce loved to travel whether walking along the sand at the beach or enjoying the sights of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. She was always ready for a shopping trip and took delight in finding the best bargains. Above all, her heart belonged to her family. She adored her granddaughters and great-granddaughter and cherished every moment with them. To her children and loved ones, she was a source of comfort, joy, and sweet encouragement.

Left to treasure her memory are her daughter, Tonya Poore (Josh); daughter-in-love, Janet; sister, Annette Gouge; brothers, Wayne and Aurther Williams; four granddaughters, Carrie, Taylor, Makayla, and Hannah; her great-granddaughter, Mallorie; and her dear friends, Rose Chadwick and Diane Harris, all of Marion.

A funeral service to celebrate Joyce’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Old Fort, with Pastor Kevin Arrowood and Mr. Zeb Wyatt officiating. She will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Following the service, Joyce will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Buddy, at Gouges Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Spruce Pine, NC.
