Josephine Kalisnik
Josephine M. (Scalzi) Kalisnik, age 94, of Stratford, passed away Friday, July 25, 2025, surrounded by her family. Josephine was born March 20, 1931, in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Frederick and Margaret (Michelina) Scalzi and had been a lifetime area resident.
She enjoyed the outdoors and had a deep love for nature and animals. She was always so welcoming and quick to smile. All who knew her enjoyed her home-cooked meals made with love, with her specialty being meatballs. She had an incredible bond with her daughter and grandchildren, always talking about how proud they made her. Her kind soul, thoughtfulness and big heart will be forever missed.
Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia Kalisnik; grandchildren, Nicholas Van Fleet and his wife Haley, Rachel Van Fleet, Joshua Van Fleet and his wife May and Cassidy Van Fleet; great grandchildren, Mason Trerotola, Lilyiana, Rosalina and Joshua Jr. Van Fleet and cousin, Barbara Butterworth.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Anthony and Teddy.
Friends are invited to attend her funeral service celebrated by Deacon John Piatak at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, by meeting directly in Saint Michael’s Cemetery, 2205 Stratford Ave, Stratford, CT 06615.
