John Frederick Regan, Sr., 84, of Hebron, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025, one day shy of his 85th birthday.
Born in Canandaigua, New York, on September 5, 1940, John was the son of the late William F. Regan, Jr. and Anna K. Dannahe-Regan and he grew up in Brooklyn, New York.
John proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965 as a field artillery specialist (E-4), including service in Germany with U.S. Army Europe. Following his military service, he worked as a pipe fitter for over 20 years with Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford, CT, and later served as the building manager at RHAM High School in Hebron, retiring in 2005.
Dedicated to his community, John gave generously of his time and talents. He coached youth basketball and baseball, helping to shape the lives of many young athletes by teaching teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship. He was an active member and chapter president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 95, as well as a member of the local Knights of Columbus.
John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marian K. Follette-Regan of Newark, NY, and his three siblings; William F. Regan, Jr., Maureen Regan-Avery, and Elizabeth Regan-Dowling. He is survived by his children: John F. Regan, Jr. and wife Kelly, Matthew D. Regan and wife Karen, Andrew J. Regan, Paul W. Regan and wife Stacey, and Theresa A. Regan. He leaves behind six cherished grandchildren—Jessica Regan, Stephanie Regan-Johnson and husband Tyler, Scott Regan, Riana Brann, Sierra Brann, and Nichole Regan—along with one great-grandson, Casey Johnson, and a great-granddaughter soon to be welcomed into the Johnson family.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Pistey Funeral Home, 2611 Main Street, Stratford, CT. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York, where John once worked as a member of the lawn maintenance crew in his youth.
