CARENCRO – Funeral services will be held Friday, October 24, 2025 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church (410 N. Michaud St. Carencro, LA) for John Louis Bruno, Sr., age 80, who passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at Maison de Lafayette.

The Rev. Msgr. Ronald Broussard, pastor of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.

Mr. Bruno was a native of Lafayette and a resident of Carencro. He was a devoted father and grandfather who cherished every moment spent with his children and grandchildren. Known by all as a good man with a kind heart, he left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Mr. Bruno had a true zest for life. He loved cooking and sharing meals with family and friends, riding horses both in sport and on trail rides, and entertaining those he cared about most. He was charismatic and enjoyed spending time with the ladies.

A proud and hardworking man, he was the owner and operator of a local grocery store, where he was well known and respected in the community. Grateful for the love and friendship he shared with so many, Mr. Bruno will be remembered for his generosity, his laughter, and his unwavering love for family.

Mourning his departure yet cherishing his memory are two sons, John Louis Bruno, Jr. and his wife, Margo, of Carencro, and Everette Robinson of Carencro; three daughters, Patricia Johnson and her husband, Kenny, of Breaux Bridge, Katie Magee and her husband, Kevin, of Houston, TX, and Marla Amest and her husband, Randy, of Breaux Bridge; twenty-four grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; one brother, George Bruno and his wife, Vanessa, of Houston, TX; two sisters, Anna Lee Bruno of Lafayette and Lois Carmouche; and his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends that he loved dearly.

He is reunited in Heaven by Mary Lorita Bruno; one daughter, Geraldine Bruno; one son, Gilbert Bruno; and his parents, Gilbert Bruno and Hilda Alexander.

A rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church (410 N. Michaud St. Carencro, LA) from 8:00 a.m. Friday until service time on Friday.

Pallbearers will be Codie Jones, Daravious Savoy, John Allen Cormier, Jr., Treyvus Bruno, Everette Robertson, and Joseph Thomas Carter. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Amest and George Bruno.
