James H. Hallett, Jr., known by all as Jimmy, passed into the arms of Jesus on June 23, 2025 with his loving caregivers, Amber and Sue, by his side.
Jimmy was born on March 13, 1952, in Amsterdam, New York, and was an instant friend to everyone he met! His smile and charisma made everybody love Jimmy.
He was preceded in death by his precious mother, Myrtle Powell, and father, James, both of whom, along with his brothers (Richard) aka Donald, Winston, and sister, Grace Vivian, have welcomed him into the Kingdom of Heaven. Jimmy was also preceded in death by his in-laws, Paul Gundrum, Donna Hallett, Ernie Dopp, Jeannine Hallett, and Chuck Hallenbeck, who are no doubt eagerly rejoicing at his arrival in heaven.
The loving family he leaves behind are his sisters, Carol Gundrum, Mary Dopp, and Midge Hallenbeck, along with his brothers, Dave (Karen), Coleman, and Spence (Cindy). He also leaves behind many, many nieces and nephews. The deep family bonds shared with Jimmy will continue to find strength and comfort in each other as they remember him.
Jimmy’s life was a sincere testimony of his Savior, Jesus Christ. He loved to sing solos in church. He was a lifelong participant of The Arc of Lexington. Here, he found more than just education; he found his extended family. His Lexington family of housemates, friends, and loving, dedicated caregivers were a source of constant support and companionship. They, too, will feel the absence of his kind spirit but will forever be guided by the love, laughter and pranks he shared so enthusiastically with each of them.
Jimmy loved to sing and dance. And sing he did!!! He had a Karaoke machine that brought him hours upon hours of fame and delight. He sang gospel songs about Jesus and heaven, but also enjoyed imitating Elvis “The King” as well as Johnny Cash and many other country artist. He love for music was also reflected in his happiness of dancing. Rhythm was throughout his body and soul!
Jimmy was a huge flirt and was always making “eyes” at the women! And his absolute favorite spot was in front of any camera!! Jimmy was photo-bombing before it became a popular thing to do.
Today we said goodbye to our little brother, Jimmy Hallett. You will be so missed here on earth for all the joy, laughter and delight you brought to each of our lives. We are thankful you are no longer suffering but are in the arms of Jesus and singing your heart out with the angels in heaven.
“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, …
… come before His presence with singing.
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, …
For the Lord is good; …
Psalms 100
