Jerry Wilson

Jerry Lemuel Wilson who was born on February 1, 1948, in Rosedale, Mississippi, to the late Charles Iles and Justine Wilson King. Jerry’s journey through life was marked by resilience, faith, and a deep love for his family and community.

Jerry’s early education began at Clayton Elementary School in Clayton, Mississippi. Following his family’s move to Tunica, he continued his studies at Rosenwald School and graduated from Rosa Fort High School in 1968, where he was known for his kindness and warm spirit.

From a young age, Jerry embraced his faith, attending Walton Chapel C.M.E. Church in Clayton with his family. After relocating to Tunica, he found a new spiritual home at Lane Chapel C.M.E. Church. A transformative experience came during his time at Shelby County Penal Farm, where he heard the three angels message through Longview Heights Prison Ministry. After his release, In 1979 Jerry was baptized into the faith at Longview Heights SDA Church under the leadership of Pastor Joseph Jones, Sr., where he remained faithful and active member until his passing.

Jerry’s commitment to service was evident in his volunteer work with the Prison Ministry and his leadership roles as a Deacon and Elder at the First SDA Church in Tunica County. His unwavering faith and dedication to helping others were hallmarks of his character.

On November 15, 1980, Jerry united in love with Mary Hulett, creating a beautiful partnership built on mutual respect and affection. Though they did not have children together, their home was filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories.

Professionally, Jerry took great pride in his work as a chief engineer, contributing his skills and expertise to several hotels in the area. His passion for his job and commitment to excellence left a lasting impression on his colleagues and friends.

Jerry is preceded in death by his beloved brother, Kenneth Glenn Wilson, and sister, Cathy Iles. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories, including his devoted wife, Mary Wilson; two sons, Craig (Shirley) Harris and Antonio Minor; brother Gregory (Ruth) King; Freddie Dewayne King; sister Tommie Sue (Lawson) Christopher; cousin AlFredia Dodd; stepfather Freddie Hatley King; sisters-in-law Linda Hulett and Cassie Johnson; grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

As we remember Jerry, let us honor his spirit by embracing his values of kindness, faith, and love for family. He will forever hold a special place in our hearts, and his memory will live on through the countless lives he touched.
