Jennie was born in Hendersonville, North Carolina on May 1, 1939 and fulfilled her journey on this earth on July 19, 2025. She was the daughter of the late George and Dollie Kelly. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Kathleen Peace, Gertrude Maybin, Dove King, Faye Stroud, and Eileen McDowell, as well as her brothers Odell Kelly and Delno Kelly.
Jennie married Vernon (Bill) Rhodes and was married to him for 45 years before his passing. She married Robert Forrest Bryson and they were married for 8 years prior to his passing.
She was employed at Kimberly Clark Berkley Mills working as the switchboard operator and moved to the traffic department, retiring after 27 years. She also worked for a number of years at Mr. Pete’s Market. She cherished the friendships with her coworkers and the customers that came into the store.
Jennie was blessed with a servant’s heart and was very dedicated in serving anywhere the Lord called her. She was a devoted member of Trinity of Fairview Baptist Church and enjoyed working in the food pantry and going on mission trips with her Kingdom Builders. She was a member of the Joyfully His Sunday School Class. Her love for cooking and baking was her talent. She always serached for recipes to try and making everyone’s favorite dishes.
Surviving family include her sisters Charlotte Greer and China Patterson (Paul) as well as her daughter Tamera Hipps (Larry), her stepdaughters, Kay Staples(Jimmy), Kelly Rhymer (Eddie), Karla Underwood (Mike), Jo Webber (Chris), and stepsons, Bob Bryson (Kristie) and Ronnie Bryson (Christina). She is also survived by her very special Godchildren, Kyle, Keisha, Courtney, Briana and Andrew.
A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Trinity of Fairview Baptist Church located at 646 Concord Road, Fletcher, North Carolina 28732. The visitation will begin at 1:00 PM.
We are so grateful for the friends and family who have visited and helped with her care over these difficult months. Words cannot express how she loved spending this time with each and every one of you.
