In Loving Memory of Jeffery James Weber
October 25, 1969 – July 11, 2025
With broken hearts, we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Jeffery James Weber, who left us far too soon at the age of 55. Jeff passed away at his home in Thompson, Manitoba on July 11, 2025 of a massive heart attack.
Born in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan, Jeff was the youngest of five brothers and spent his early years in Yorkton, where he made memories playing hockey, raiding gardens, and cruising up and down Broadway in his beloved souped-up Camaro. He brought that same sense of spirit and adventure into adulthood.
Jeff began his career with Vale (formerly Inco Limited) in November 1988, working as a highly respected miner and VBM driller until his retirement in 2017. He took great pride in his work, and his dedication, skill, and strong work ethic earned him admiration from his colleagues. He was known not only for his abilities, but for his willingness to help others, and for making the toughest days on the job a little lighter with his humor and good nature.
Outside of work, Jeff lived life to the fullest. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, snowmobiling, quadding, rock concerts, tropical vacations, and above all, spending time with his daughter Amanda and his granddaughters, Livia (5) and Lily (4). He was a devoted father and grandfather who moved across the country more than once just to remain close to “his girls.” He never hesitated to show up, help out, or drop everything when they needed him. No questions asked.
Jeff had a rare kind of charm — an awkward, authentic, endlessly lovable presence that drew people to him. Amanda often says, “Anyone who meets him loves him. He’s awkward and authentic — it’s so endearing. He’s just such a lovable person.” He was the kind of man whose kindness left a lasting impression, whose laugh lit up a room, and whose loyalty knew no bounds.
He shared a deep bond with Amanda through their mutual love of music. The two spent countless hours listening to records, talking about bands, playing air guitar, and attending concerts — each memory now a treasured keepsake. Jeff passed along not only his musical taste, but his passion, sense of humor, and warmth.
Jeff will be deeply missed by his daughter Amanda Weber and his granddaughters Livia and Lily Templeton of Thompson. He is predeceased by his parents, Peter and Walla Weber (Neutwich) and one of his brother’s Timothy Weber. He is survived by his brothers Ken (Monica) Weber of Sooke, BC, their children ,Justin, the late Christopher, and Shannon; Terry Weber (Linda Baker) of Victoria, BC; Bob (Mary) Weber of Regina, SK, and their children Michael and Megan; and by Tim’s wife Corrine of Thompson and their son Scott.
Jeff also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and extended family, including those connected through his previous longtime marriage to Laura (Temple) Oosterbaan. He is predeceased by his mother and father in law, Vern and Sandra Temple. Brother in law Kevin Temple, his wife Michelle , their children Kierra, Ava, Brant. Sister in law Krystal, her husband Tim Szabo and their children Zakk and Charlie. In addition to his loving family, Jeff is remembered by a wide circle of friends, coworkers, and community members who were touched by his generous heart and quick wit.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Thompson on August 16, 2025. All who knew Jeff are invited to join us in honoring a man who lived fully, loved deeply, and made every day a little brighter for those lucky enough to know him. Please bring your memories, your stories, and your love as we gather to remember the incredible life and legacy of Jeffery James Weber
