Jean Martinez

Jean Martinez (nee Angelina Maria Alterio) entered into eternal life on June 27, 2025. Jean was born at her family home when they were living in Pelham, NY, on January 20, 1936, to Louis and Maria (Sauro) Alterio.

Jean was truly loving, gracious, compassionate, thoughtful, and intelligent. She was the most understanding and forgiving person. Jean was also endlessly patient and kind. Jean was happiest spending time with family. We were blessed to have many wonderful family gatherings where we would enjoy fun times and great food, and where Jean’s laughter could be heard ringing throughout the house. Jean enjoyed Hollywood classic movies and movie star-entertainment news, listening to the music greats like Frank Sinatra, Nate King Cole, The Momas & The Papas, and Michael Buble to name a few.

Jean is the cherished mother of Darlene (husband Tony) Goncalves and Derek, loving sister of Antoinette (husband Sal) Lucchese, Louis Alterio Jr. (significant other Teresa), and Jonathan Alterio, and was predeceased by her loving sister Joyce (husband Ralph) Basso. Jean is the adored grandmother of John and Alec, loving aunt of niece Joy (husband Nick) Prignano, Kim (husband Steve) Abbott, and nephew Anthony (wife Carolyn) DiMaggio and all of their children. Jean is also survived by a loving aunt and many loving cousins, and predeceased by loving parents, grandparents and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

A private family service will be held to honor Jean.
