Jane Enos, 81, of Oriskany, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Rome Health after a brief acute illness. She was born on June 24, 1944, in Rome, to James A. and Norma (Smith) Ernenwein. She graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1962 and on June 6, 1964, in St. Mary’s Church, was united in marriage to a guy from Oriskany, Gerald “Jerry” Enos. It was there that they built their 57-year life together. He passed away October 9, 2021.
Jane was a life member of the Oriskany Legion and Fire Auxiliaries, serving several terms as President of both organizations. She held her faith in God close and Mass and rosary had become a part of her daily ritual. She was a member of St. Paul’s Church in Whitesboro.
Jane and Jerry enjoyed Camp with their friends, their cruises, visiting Ireland, and the winters they were able to spend in Florida.
Jane worked her entire life, retiring from Eastern Star Home.
She leaves behind her children, James and Diane Enos and Jacqueline and Gary Dillon II; beloved grandchildren, Dylan T. Hannaford (Ashley), Austin, Alivia, and Madalynne Enos, and Jonathan Dillon; she was blessed with the gift of two great-grandchildren, Ember Rose and Violet Louise Enos, and thrilled to share her birthday with Rosie; her in-laws, Ronald and Edie Enos, Dan and Elaine Enos, and Sharon Ernenwein; and many special nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as so many special friends. She was predeceased by her sister, Shirley Landry; and two brothers, James E. and Donald Ernenwein.
Jane’s family would like to thank the caregivers she called friends, Jennifer and Kylee, as well as the ICU Staff at Rome Health, who offered great care and compassion.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 7th, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Church in Whitesboro. Interment will take place in Oriskany Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome NY 13440, on Sunday from 2-4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jane’s memory to the Oriskany Fire Department.
