Clinton-James “Jim” William Edward Marden passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 25th at home. He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years Brenda Marden; his daughter Kayla Marden; his step-son Joseph Marshall; his mother Carol Whittier; his brother Chris Marden with his wife Aimee; his sisters Lisa Marden with her partner George LaPointe, and Kimberly Bergeron with her husband Adam; his in-laws, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister Brenda Marden, father Herbert Marden, step-father Cortland Whittier, and his grandparents.
Jim was born in Van Nuys, California but Massachusetts was his home state for most of his life. Many of his longtime friends met him through his love of SAABS, LARPING in Realms, playing World of Warcraft, or Ghost Hunting in Gettysburg, PA. He had passion for everything he did. Whether it was doing research for his hobbies, watching the Celtics or New England Patriots win, working on his 12+ certificates for IT & AI, creating websites from scratch for our multiple business ventures or for others, he always needed to know the most about what he was doing or about to do. I think his true determination and passion came out when he became a double below the knee amputee 7 years ago. This path, which included being a type 1 diabetic, was not an easy one but he made it look flawless and easy. He didn’t look at himself with restrictions and it never stopped him from living life to the fullest. It was admirable and inspiring to anyone who knew his story and watched him. He will be missed greatly by his family, friends, and beloved kitties.
Calling Hours for family and friends will be held Thursday, July 31st from 4-7PM at Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water Street, Clinton. It would mean a lot to Jim if you wanted to help and send donations to either of the following organizations in his memory: Amputee Coalition 25 Massachusetts Ave NW, Suite 650, Washington, DC 20001 amputee-coalition.org or UMass Diabetes Center of Excellence 368 Plantation Street, Worcester, MA 01605 umassmed.edu/dcoe/
