James “Jim” Porter

James “Jim” Edward Porter age 80, of Whitesburg, Georgia, passed away on September 19, 2025.

Born on January 24, 1945, in Maryland, Jim served honorably in the United States Army. Following his military service, he pursued higher education and earned a bachelor’s degree. He went on to enjoy a fulfilling career as an architect before retiring.

Survivors include his sister-in-law Kim Parrott (Scott) and brother-in-law Donald Weaver.

Jim was a devoted husband and father. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dawn Marie Jackson Maddox and his stepson, Cortny Maddox.

Interment will be Carroll Memory Gardens.
