James Bruce Holmgreen, 48, of Coatesville, passed unexpectedly on the morning of Friday, June 13, 2025 at Einstein Medical Center. Known as “J.J.” or “J” to his friends, he was the son of James Craig Holmgreen and Cynthia nee Hidalgo of Alice, Texas.

An Eagle Scout, hunter, retired U.S. Marine combat engineer/heavy equipment operator with three meritorious promotions. A member of the XI XI chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity at Texas State University, he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Technology. Known as an easy going helpful man, who could quickly return to being a Marine NCO if necessary.

His loves were his family, his country, his job and faith; with a little motorcycle riding thrown in for good measure.

In addition to his parents, J. is survived by his son, Tristan James Holmgreen; daughter, Ava Simone Holmgreen; former wife, Susan S. Holmgreen; sister, Adreann L. Peters (Darren); nieces Ryleigh K. and Laynee E.; brother David M. Holmgreen (Andrea) with niece Addilynn J.; aunts Debra A. Hidalgo, Anna J.; Martha C. and Judith K. Holmgreen; numerous cousins and longtime friends.

J. is preceded in death by his uncle, David Bruce Holmgreen; grand parents, James E. and Marjean M. Holmgreen; Larry C and Nadine M. Hidalgo; aunt, Marcia A. Hidalgo and uncle, Michael C. Hidalgo.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 28th, 2025, 11:00 AM at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, Downingtown; with a visitation prior from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM.
